Legion transport, cargo, hypersleep, shipboard life and communications.
Gladius I → Pax
Gladius I carries legionaries and displays Pax as its destination. This establishes space transport for the legions and Pax as a destination, without specifying the voyage length.
Gladius I: equipment
Gladius I contains legionary bunks, a mess hall, corridors and an armory. Weapons are labeled Pilum III and Scutum. Roma Invicta, Veni Vidi Vici and eagle symbols decorate military equipment and spaces.
Mula Martis: crew
A first officer, crew, freedpeople and slaves appear aboard Mula Martis. Freed and enslaved people participate in space transport, but individual employment and ownership relationships are unexplained.
Hypersleep chambers
Mula Martis has many hypersleep chambers in its cargo bay. The scene establishes suspended-sleep transport technology but does not identify the occupants, travel distance or duration.
Ala Martis
Ala Martis heads for Mars Gateway with a living sacrificial ram in its cargo bay. Animals destined for Roman religious rites are cargo in the space logistics system.
Benna Martis
Benna Martis is a heavy-equipment transport ship labeled Navis Media Class. Its vehicle bay carries several vehicles and a legion technician appears, establishing specialized transport and technical personnel.
Hispana
Hispana is labeled Navis Magna Class, departing from Via Imperii. Legionary quarters, an armamentarium, utility deck, centurion, legionaries, a slave and a Vestal Virgin in a restricted area combine military, labor and religious functions aboard.
Slave ship → Vulcanus
A slave ship bound for Vulcanus contains hypersleep chambers in its cargo bay and a slave trader. A Fortuna figure stands in the cockpit. Slave transport and suspended sleep are shown aboard the same vessel.
Via Imperii Jumpgate
Gladius is labeled a legion transport ship near Via Imperii Jumpgate. A jumpgate linked to Via Imperii is explicit; its operating principle and share of interstellar transport are not disclosed.
Gladius: communications room
Legionary quarters, an armory and a personal communications room appear. Veni Vidi Vici is written above stored personal weapons; a legionary uses a personal terminal in the separate communications room.
Gladius and the Ninth Legion
A background inscription in the communications room appears to read Legio IX Hispana. It suggests a connection to Gladius, without establishing the entire ship's permanent assignment or the embarked unit's mission.
Interpretations and open questions
Episode 2
Prometheus’s identity, direct transfer of technology, links to Giza or Rome’s foundation, and whether Terminus observes another return remain unconfirmed. The present absolute date and years elapsed since 285 BC are not established.
Episode 3
The Senate’s final decision-making power, citizenship after auxiliary service and Via Imperii’s precise operation are not established. Contrasts between central and Pax housing suggest inequality but do not explain its causes.
Episode 4
The school–ship–outpost sequence suggests an exploration system, without specifying every institution’s ownership or command. Collegia are not automatically modern corporations; Navis Media and Navis Magna do not constitute a complete ship-class system.
Episode 5
The ship-to-mine sequence suggests a labor supply chain, not a single owner of every person and facility. Martian clouds and atmosphere do not establish terraforming history or extent. The slave hunter’s status as a state official is unconfirmed.
Episode 9
The edit links Pax’s damage, Monstra and Cyclops, but does not reveal the disaster’s initial cause or sequence. Disease, an experiment or deliberate release are not confirmed. Censorship, equipment failure and faster-than-light communication are likewise unconfirmed.
