Roman society

Plebeians, aristocrats, senators, legionaries, governors and Vestal Virgins appear together: Roman social, political and religious institutions coexist with future technology.

[E2]

Temple of Prometheus

A secret meeting takes place at the Temple of Prometheus in Rome. Regio II and an insula also appear, distinguishing religious space, an administrative district and communal housing.

[E2]

Gladius I → Pax

Gladius I carries legionaries and displays Pax as its destination. This establishes space transport for the legions and Pax as a destination, without specifying the voyage length.

[E2]

Terminus Gateway

Act I is titled Roman Frontier: Terminus. The gateway contains a lobby, the Aquila eagle emblem, plebeians, an astrologer and a large boundary stone: civilian life and ritual symbols share the frontier facility.

[E2]

Oculus Mercurii

A governor of Terminus appears. Oculus Mercurii is identified as a frontier surveillance station staffed by an intelligence officer, establishing both provincial government and surveillance functions at the frontier.

[E2]

Oculus Termini

Oculus Termini is a deep-space observatory with an astronomer. This profession is explicitly distinguished from the astrologer seen at the gateway; observation and astrology coexist.

[E2]

Boundary stone

The gateway's monumental boundary stone and the name Terminus suggest a symbolic boundary of Roman civilization. This is an interpretation; no administrative or technical function of the stone is explained.

[E2]

Before Terra

Act II, Returns, shows an unidentified cosmic object with Before Terra / Before Earth, followed by Billions of Years Later and Earth. The sequence suggests an origin on a timescale far older than humanity.

[E2]

Early chronology

Screen dates place Giza in 2600 BC; the twins with foster parents Faustulus and Larentia in 771 BC; young Romulus and Remus in 761 BC; and Rome's foundation, an eagle omen, Remus's death and Romulus aged 18 in 753 BC.

[E2]

285 BC · Arrival

After the arrival caption, Alexandria shows Ptolemy II aged 24 and Euclid aged 45; Syracuse shows Archimedes aged 2. These are the video's dates and ages, not a chronology verified against real history.

[E2]

The return of Prometheus

An intense celestial phenomenon precedes The Return of Prometheus · Alexandria. Prometheus names a return event, but the episode does not identify it as a creature, vessel, artifact or celestial body.

[E2]

Privilege

Act III shows the Temple of Vesta, priestesses at Atrium Vestae, senators at Curia Hostilia and aristocrats before The Space Age. The sequence suggests a relationship between knowledge, religion, privilege and development, without proving a mechanism.

[E2]

Mars Gateway

Mars Gateway is an orbital installation. An aristocratic investment meeting takes place on Mars, and a historian appears at the gateway: investment and scholarly professions extend beyond exploration alone.

[E2]

Interpretations and open questions

Episode 2

Prometheus’s identity, direct transfer of technology, links to Giza or Rome’s foundation, and whether Terminus observes another return remain unconfirmed. The present absolute date and years elapsed since 285 BC are not established.
